Men's golf opens Golfweek Conference Challenge in fourth

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Lipscomb men’s golf team opened action in the 2017 Golfweek Conference Challenge on Sunday in fourth place among the 15 teams at the Cedar Rapids Country Club in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The Bisons fired a +2, 290, one stroke ahead of four teams in the field, in the first day of the 3-day event.

Herd notes:

  • Dawson Armstrong led the way with a -3, 69 to finish the day tied for fifth.
  • Eric Ansett ended the day with an even par, 72 tied for 21st.
  • Jake Dines finished right on the heels of Ansett with a +1, 73 in a tie for 31st.
  • Paul Swindell made his debut as a Bison with a +4, 76 in a tie for 54th.
  • Hunter Howell rounded out the competition for Lipscomb with a +5, 77 in a tie for 59th.
  • C. State leads the field after the first 18 holes with a -14, 278.
  • The Wolfpack’s Stephen Franken sits atop the leaderboard with -6, 66.
  • Day two of action will get underway at 10:15 a.m. for the Bisons.
