LAKEPOINTE, Ga. – Already owning more ASUN Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week honors than any player in league history, Lipscomb senior golfer Dawson Armstrong has now reached double digits in the category as he was named this week’s top performer by the organization on Thursday.
Armstrong posted a second-place finish in the second-annual Maui Jim Intercollegiate in Scottsdale, Arizona this week. The Brentwood, Tennessee native posted a -7, 209 (71-67-71) to finish three strokes behind medalist Alex Del Ray Gonzalez from Arizona State. Armstrong’s 67 in the second round marks the 14th time that he has hit that mark or lower in a round of collegiate competition.
The senior already owns the most ASUN Golfer of the Week honors in ASUN history and now moves into a tie with USC Upstate’s Gilbert Kemboi (Cross Country) and Kennesaw State’s Bilal Abdullah (Indoor Track and Field) for the most league weekly honors by a male in conference history.
