PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – The Lipscomb men’s golf team is set to open the spring portion of its schedule with a two-day trip to Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida to compete in the 10th-annual Sea Best Invitational.
The event is set to begin with 36 holes on Monday at the 6,858-yard, par-70 Dye’s Valley Course at TPC Sawgrass. Action concludes Tuesday with the final 18 holes.
The 15-team field features some of the top programs in the country, including five of the top 25 and eight of the top 50 ranked nationally by Golfstat.
Last season the Purple and Gold competed in the Sea Best Invitational and came away with a 2nd-place finish after posting a +5, 845 (278-283-284).
Joining the Bisons in this year’s field will be host Jacksonville, No. 7 Florida, No. 11 LSU, No. 20 Arkansas, No. 23 Duke, No. 24 North Carolina, No. 27 North Florida, No. 28 Tennessee, No. 43 South Florida, Campbell, East Carolina, Liberty, USC Upstate and Winthrop.
Lipscomb enters the spring season after picking up a top-5 finish in three of its four fall tournaments, including a victory at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic in October.
Senior Dawson Armstrong earned his 8th-career medalist honor with a -12, 204 (67-70-67) to win the event by four strokes.
- Head coach Will Brewer’s lineup will be Dawson Armstrong, Eric Ansett, Hunter Howell, Jake Dines and Paul Swindell.
