Men's golf sits at eighth after day one at Sea Best Invite

PONTE VEDRA BEACH – The Lipscomb men’s golf team opened up the 2018 season in eighth place after day one at the Sea Best Invitational in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

The Bisons ended the afternoon +5, 565 (280-285), sandwiching them between ASUN foes Jacksonville and North Florida after 36 holes.

Senior Eric Ansett led the way for Lipscomb by shooting -5, 135 (67-68).

Fellow senior Dawson Armstrong fired a -1, 139 (69-70) to tie for 16th.

Senior Hunter Howell (+6, 146, 72-74), freshman Paul Swindell (+9, 149, 72-77), and senior Jake Dines (+11, 151, 78-73) finished day one in ties for 49th, 59th, and 67th place, respectively.

Junior Connor McKay ended Monday tied for 62nd after scoring +10, 150 (75-75) as an individual.

Arkansas is leading the field after two rounds at -11, 549 (282-267), while Liberty’s Irwin Chang and North Carolina’s William Register are tied for first on the player leaderboard at -6, 134.
