Ansett claims first career ASUN weekly honor

LAKEPOINT, Ga. - Lipscomb’s Eric Ansett finished runner-up at the 10th-Annual Sea Best Invitational to collect his first career ASUN Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week award, announced by the league office on Thursday.

The senior from Spokane, Washington was brilliant in his performance against a field that featured seven top-45 ranked teams and 13 top-100 ranked individuals.

Ansett shot rounds of 67-68-69 to finish at 204 (-6) which was good enough to put him in a playoff at the top of the leaderboard. He finished in a tie for second after losing the playoff to Liberty's Ervin Chang.

He finished the event with 16 total birdies, three better than anybody else in the field. He posted at least four birdies in each round, and was outstanding on the front nine of the Dye’s Valley Course at TPC at Sawgrass, combining to go nine-under-par in the three rounds.

Ansett posted the best stroke average on Par 4 holes at 3.86, while finishing second in the field on Par 5s at 4.17. The senior and his teammates now prepare for their next tournament which is February 17-18 at the Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Florida.
