LAKEPOINT, Ga. - Lipscomb's Dawson Armstrong captured a runner-up finish at the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship this past week to earn his 13th career ASUN Men's Golfer of the Week honor, breaking the conference's record for most weekly awards in any sport, the league office announced on Wednesday.
It marks his second straight Golfer of the Week award to give him four on the season.
The Brentwood, Tennessee senior put on another great display as he carded three rounds under par to finish in 2nd-place at -7, 209.
He opened the event with a 1-under, 71, which included two birdies. In round two, Armstrong put together three birdies and carded a 2-under, 70 to move up the leaderboard.
Armstrong saved his best golf for the final round on Monday, when he carded a 4-under, 68 to finish in second place behind Braden Thornberry from Ole Miss (ranked No. 10 in the nation). His final round included an eagle on the Par 5 ninth hole, and then four birdies on the back nine, including three in a row from holes 14-16.
Armstrong led the field in Par-5 scoring with an average of 4.33 strokes, while posting nine birdies and one eagle for the event.
The Bisons and Armstrong are headed to The Legends Course this weekend to participate in the ASUN Championship on April 22-24. Armstrong is the defending individual champion, while the Bisons posted a runner-up finish in the team event last year.
