Men's Golf Finishes 14th at Sea Best Invitational

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Lipscomb men's golf team finished its first tournament of the 2019 spring season in 14th place at the Sea Best Invitational Tuesday afternoon. The Bisons carded rounds of 305-288-295 for a three-round total of 888.

Florida State won the tournament at 840 by moving five spots up on the leaderboard on the final day of competition behind a blistering final round score of 271, nine-under par.

Sophomore Linus Samuelsson had a consistent tournament outing shooting rounds of 72-75-72 for a three-round total of 219. Samuelsson finished in a tie for 40th and paced the way for the Bisons.

Samuelsson recorded 39 pars in his first outing of the season, which was tied for the fourth most in the tournament.

Freshman Austin Aliff, who competed as an individual, also displayed consistency by carding rounds of 73-76-73 for a total of 222 and a tie for 54th.

"It always just feels good to get back out there," Director of Golf Will Brewer said. "This was a very good field and I thought it kind of put us in our place. This just shows we have a lot of learning to do and room to grow with a young team. However, there were a lot of positives and things that we'll be looking forward to during the season."

The Purple and Gold will have some time off before they are back in action as they head to Auburn Feb. 24-26 for the Auburn Invitational.
