Lipscomb Finishes 12th at Old Waverly Collegiate Championship

WEST POINT, Miss. - The Lipscomb men's golf team wrapped up play at the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship and finished in 12th place Tuesday afternoon.

The Bisons shot a final round 293 to give them a 54-hole 887 total. The final round was the best round posted by the Bisons after shooting back-to-back round of 297 yesterday.

ULM won the team title at 846, which was only one shot better than runner-up Ole Miss at 847.

Sophomore Paul Swindell had a himself a day on the course and led the Purple and Gold on the leaderboard. Swindell fired a 67 in his final round of competition and finished in a tie for 10th place at 212.

Swindell played well on the front-nine and carded three birdies and an eagle to go five-under. His 67 also tied the lowest individual score shot by a Bisons golfer this season.

"Paul has realized his putting needed to improve and he has worked diligently these past few weeks and it showed this week," Director of Golf Will Brewer said. "He was strong off the tee and much improved putting allowed him to lower his scores significantly."

Linus Samuelsson was second on the leaderboard for the Bisons and finished in a tie for 45th at 222 after carding a final round 75.

The next time the Bisons will hit the links will be at the ASUN Championship held in Braselton, Georgia April 21-23.

"I am encouraged by the fight and the desire," Brewer said. "Just need to button up some mistakes. We remain on an uptick an I am hopeful the team carries this into conference."
