BRASELTON, Ga. - The Lipscomb men's golf team wrapped up its first round of the ASUN Championship on Sunday afternoon and are in sixth place.
The Bisons carded an 18-hole total of 310 on the first day of competition. North Florida leads the field at 289.
Paul Swindell paced the Purple and Gold on the leaderboard with a one-over, 73 and is tied for sixth place. The sophomore's round featured four birdires, which tied for the second-most on the day, and and a score of one-under on the front nine.
Linus Samuelsson also had a nice showing for his first round and is in the top-20 on the leaderboard, tied for 16th with a 77.
Trevor Gold is just outside the top-25 after he posted a 79, which has him tied for 26th.
"Today we lacked the patience required to compete well," Director of Golf Will Brewer said. "This championship requires clam, patience and excellent execution. However, I know this team has heart and desire and I feel confident we will come out during tomorrow's round more settled and more prepared to trust and play more patiently."
Play will continue tomorrow with the second round and finish with the final round on Tuesday.
