SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Lipscomb men’s golf team began its first tournament with a fourth place showing at the UTSA Lone Star Invitational with a first day total of 584 (294-290).
Senior grad transfer Nolan Ray had himself a day on the course and sits atop the leaderboard at 134 (65-69).
Ray came out on the back nine to begin his first round and fired a seven-under, 65. He carded eight birdies to just one bogey in his first 18-holes of the day with four birdies coming on the front nine and four birdies coming on the back nine. His second round was steadier with a three-under, 69 to give him a 36-hole total of 134. Ray finished just one stroke shy of tying his career low-18 hole mark.
Redshirt senior Connor McKay and redshirt junior Davis Armstrong also had quality outings on day one at TPC San Antonio. McKay turned in a top-20 performance and is tied for 19th at 148 (75-73), while Armstrong sits in a tie for 28th at 150 (77-73).
