DULUTH, Ga. - The Lipscomb men's golf team is tied for the lead at the Autotrader Collegiate Classic after the first day of competition at the Berkeley Hills Country Club.
The Bisons fired a two-round total of 561 (282-279) to set the pace and are tied with James Madison atop the leaderboard. USC Upstate is in third, but are 11 strokes behind at 572.
Lipscomb was led in scoring by a duo of top-five performances from Nolan Ray and Paul Swindell. Ray is in sole possesion of first place at 10-under, 134 (66-68) and Swindell is just one stroke back and is tied for second at 9-under, 135 (68-67). The duo combined for 23 birdies on the day, while Lipscomb bagged 43 as team.
Freshman Ford Goldasich had his best outing of the fall and ended the day with a top-25 performance. Goldasich carded a 36-hole total of 145 (72-73) and is tied for 21st.
"I'm really proud of the team today," said director of golf Will Brewer. "We've worked really hard these past six weeks on speed putting and our short game and it showed for most of our team today."
