Men's Golf Finishes First Day At Sea Best Invitational T7th

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. - The Lipscomb men's golf team teed-off in its first tournament of the spring season on Monday at the Sea Best Invitational and ended day one with a 570 total (289-281).

The Purple and Gold currently sit tied in seventh place with two others in USC Upstate and North Carolina State. Texas A&M leads the field at 553 (281-272), just one stroke ahead of Florida at 554 (276-278).

Senior Nolan Ray continues to play well after the break as he led the Bisons on the leaderboard. He shot back-to-back rounds of one-under, 69 to finish inside the top-10 at 138 (T6th).

Paul Swindell had the next best outing of the day for Lipscomb and is tied for 33rd. The junior fired rounds of 70 and 73 for a 36-hole total of 143.

"I'm very proud of the men today," said Director of Golf Will Brewer. "Nolan and Paul in the morning were strong and kept the team in decent position. Nolan, Ford [Goldasich] and Connor [McKay] played well in the afternoon round and we are in a good spot with a few shots away from a good finish.

"We must stay disciplined and make confident decisions. This course is gettable, however, it is very pineal on a number of holes. I like our attitude and grit. We have an awesome opportunity ahead of us tomorrow."

The tournament will conclude with the third and final round of play tomorrow.
