Men's Golf Places Seventh At Sea Best Invitational

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. - The Lipscomb men's golf team wrapped up play in its first tournament of the spring season on Tuesday afternoon at the Sea Best Invitational and finished in seventh place at 855.

The Bisons shot a team-total of 285 on the final day of compeition, but didn't move on the leaderboard. Texas A&M won the team title at 827 besting Florida by two strokes.

"Solid finish for the day," Director of Golf Will Brewer said. "I'm pleased with our team's grind and grit and sticking to the specific course game plan. Everyone stepped up this week. I'm especially proud of Nolan [Ray] and Paul [Swindell] as they just came off the Jones Cup Amatuer and stepped into this event Monday morning."

Nolan Ray and Paul Swindell paced the Purple and Gold and both recorded top-25 results. Ray tied for 10th at at 209 (69-69-71) and Swindell tied for 22nd at 212 (70-73-69). Swindell's final-round 69 was the lowest of the day for Lipscomb.

Freshman Ford Goldasich (78-69-71=218) and senior Connor McKay (75-70-74=219) finished tied for 49th and 52nd, respectively.

Linus Samuelsson, who competed as an idividual finished T40th at 215 (71-73-72).

"Ford finished the final two rounds very well for a freshman, closing with a 69 and 71," Brewer said. "Also Connor closed in his final nine holes at two-under. This team is gaining confidence and we are looking forward to our training as we prepare for the Desert Mountain Invitational in March."

The Bisons will have just about one month until their next outing at the Desert Mountain Invitational in Scottsdale, Arizona March 7-8.
