Lipscomb golf coach Buddy Harston finished tied for third place in last weekend's U.S. Open Local Qualifier tournament at the Maketewah Country Club in Cincinnati, Ohio. Harston shot an even par 72 during the round and finished just one stroke behind the leader.

The Lipscomb men's golf team wrapped up the 2011 regular season on Sunday with an 18th place finish at the Kentucky Bluegrass Invitational in Lexington. The Bisons carded rounds of 321, 298 and 320 to finish with a 54-hole team total of 939.

Lipscomb University Bisons' golf coach Buddy Harston has signed Kyle Wittler from Notre Dame High School in Chattanooga, Tenn. Wittler was named to the Chattanooga Times Free Press Best of the Preps as both a junior and a senior and finished in the top 15 in the state tourney for three years.

Will Brewer is the only male golfer at Lipscomb to win a national championship, a feat he accomplished in 1976 when he won the NAIA title. Brewer involvement in golf continues with his work at the Vanderbilt Legends Club.

Lipscomb Bisons golf coach Buddy Harston has announced the signing of Ben McMahon from Fort Myers, Fla. McMahon is a four-year All-District performer for Fort Myers High School. He was the District Champion in 2006, 2007 and 2008 and the Regional Champion in 2006. He qualified for the State Finals in 2006 and 2007.

FRANKLIN, Ky. - The annual Bison Golf Scramble went out on a high note. It's not ending, though. It's being renamed to honor one of Lipscomb's most avid athletics fans. Thursday at the Kenny Perry's Country Creek Golf Course a record number of golfers, more than 130, played in the scramble, one of the more popular events on the Lipscomb athletics calendar. One of the big announcements during the awards dinner was that the event is now known as the Barry Brewer Golf Scramble.
