The Lipscomb men’s soccer team and head coach Charles Morrow has announced a five-game spring schedule. The Bisons open the spring season with a tough road contest at perennial power UAB on Saturday, March 5 at 3 p.m. Other tilts include Evansville, Belmont, Cumberland and Lee University.
Lipscomb head coach Charles Morrow announced the addition of eight newcomers to the men’s soccer program on Thursday. Of the eight members who will be join the Bison starting in the fall of 2016, four hail from the state of Texas, while the others span from Georgia to Colorado.
Lipscomb sophomore midfielder Ivan Alvarado was named a third team All-Southeast Region member by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America on Wednesday. He becomes the fifth player in school history to be named all-region.
The Lipscomb Men’s Soccer team saw its season end Saturday night as North Florida headed in the game-winner in the 109th minute of the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament semifinals at Hodges Stadium.
Postseason play begins for Lipscomb Men’s Soccer Saturday, as it will seek to earn its first trip to the Atlantic Sun Tournament championship match in school history when the third-seeded Bisons take on host and No. 2 seed, North Florida at 6 p.m. inside Hodges Stadium.
When the Atlantic Sun Conference announced the 2015 Men’s Soccer All-Conference team Wednesday, the Lipscomb Bisons were heavily recognized with six players earning postseason honors. Ivan Alvarado and Logan Paynter both earned first team honors to lead the postseason haul.
Lipscomb’s Matt Kerridge, Kevin McMahon and Daniel Vieira have been named to the 2015 Atlantic Sun Men’s Soccer Academic All-Conference team after putting together successful seasons on the pitch and in the classroom. The three selections are more than any other league member.
Sophomore Ivan Alvarado scored a goal and picked up an assist in the Bisons 3-0 win over Stetson on Saturday to clinch the No. 3 seed in the A-Sun Championship. He was named the A-Sun Player of the Week for his efforts.
Lipscomb Men’s Soccer head coach Charles Morrow picked up his 100th career victory Saturday night when his Bisons knocked off Stetson, 3-0, in the regular season finale at the Athletic Training Center. The win clinches the No. 3 seed for the Bisons in next week’s Atlantic Sun Conference Championship.
The Lipscomb Men’s Soccer team travels to Stetson Saturday for a 6:30 p.m. match and it will be looking for more than just a win. Seeding for the Atlantic Sun Conference tournament will be on the line.
