Jim Maddux has announced he is leaving his position as men's soccer coach at Lipscomb University to accept a position as a financial analyst with Merrill Lynch.

"We are disappointed that Jim will be leaving Lipscomb," said Dr. Steve Potts, Lipscomb Athletics Director. "Jim embodies all the qualities we seek in a coach in terms of character, integrity and Christian commitment. We thank him for his service to the Lipscomb Soccer program and wish him great success in his new career."

Maddux was a standout soccer player at Lipscomb, and served as an assistant coach for three years. He was elevated to head coach for the 2004 season.

Maddux graduated from Lipscomb in 2000 with a double major in Finance and Management. In 2002 he received his MBA degree with an emphasis in Financial Services from Lipscomb.

"I would like to thank Lipscomb University, and especially Dr. Steve Potts, for providing me the opportunity as head coach of the Lipscomb men's soccer program," Maddux said. "I have been very fortunate to spend nine years with this program and watch it grow from its infancy to its current NCAA Division I status.

"I will certainly miss the players and friends at Lipscomb that I have grown close with over the years. I look forward to watching and supporting this program's success for not only next season, but into the future."
