Bisons continue road trip with Georgia State stop

Sept. 17, 2005 - The Lipscomb Bisons soccer team continued their road trip Saturday in a 5-0 loss at the home of former Atlantic Sun Conference foe Georgia State University in Atlanta.

It was the third consecutive road game for the Bisons who will play seven straight games on the road before returning home Oct. 13 against Gardner-Webb.

Freshman forward Dathan Knott set the pace for Georgia State with a hat trick (three goals) and an assist.

Knott scored his first goal unassisted at 10:08 for the only goal of the first half as Georgia State took a 1-0 lead in at the half.

Knott assisted on the first goal of the second half as forward Jeremy Johnson scored at 75:05. At 79:28 Knott struck again. He scored his final goal of the game at 81:38. Alvin Glay closed out the scoring at 88:02.

J.D. Murphy started in goal for the Bisons. He made seven saves, but allowed four goals.. Jake Goergen replaced Murphy and played the final eight minutes. He made two saves and allowed on goal.

Georgia State was credited with 14 shots on goal. The Bisons had three with Ben Page making two and Kevin Terry attempting one. All three shots by the Bisons came in the second half.

It was the home opener for Georgia State which had lost four road games to start the season. Georgia State is 1-4-0. The Bisons slipped to 2-2-1.
