Final Stats

The Lipscomb Bisons needed a win to help stay in control of their fate as they work for a berth in the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament.

Thursday night against visiting Gardner-Webb they jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals by Kevin Terry and T.J. Williams. Terry scored at 24:19 of the first half and Williams scored at 35:10.

Gardner-Webb fought back, pulling to within one goal of the Bisons as Carlton Hughes found the net after kicking in a ball that was deflected off of Bisons goalkeeper Danny Prichard at 37:20 of the first period.

Richard Godfrey tied the game for Gardner-Webb at 44:21 when Prichard made a diving one-handed save. The ball stayed alive and Godfrey found the wide side of the net.

Godfrey scored his second goal of the game in the second half, also unassisted, with what proved to be the game-winning goal at 83:55.

Boris Gatzky scored an insurance goal at 85:03 for Gardner-Webb.

The games was played in a steady, cold rain that was made even more chilling due to windy conditions.

The Bisons are on the road this weekend, closing out their A-Sun regular season schedule against Campbell University at 2 p.m. They will play at Furman Monday at 4.

Lipscomb is 1-4-1 in the A-Sun, 6-8-2 overall. Gardner-Webb is 4-1-1 in the conference, 5-6-3 overall.
