Bisons add outstanding midfielder-forward from Texas

Lipscomb University men's soccer coach Charles Morrow has announced the signing of midfielder-forward Angel Chairez from Athens, Texas.

Chairez is a four-time All-District and All-Region performer for Athens High School. He also served as captain of the team in 2005 and 2006. In 2006 and 2007 Chavez was named District Most Valuable Player and MVP of his high school team.

Other honors include First Team All-East Texas in 2006, 2005 District 15-4A Sophomore of the Year, 2005 Athens High School Offensive Player of the Year and 2004 District 15-4A Newcomer of the Year.

Chairez has also played for the Solar 89 Soccer Club in Dallas. The Solar 89 team was the Dallas Classic League U-19 Champions and Premier League Champions, both in 2006. The Dallas Classic League is considered to be one of the top leagues in the country. The team was a U.S. National Tournament finalist in 2006.

Chairez is undecided on his major.

He is the son of Guadalupe and Everardo Chairez. He has one sister, Karla, 13.
