Wednesday, November 10, 2010Ethan Huffard played soccer for Lipscomb University while working toward a degree in Spanish. He now teaches at Ezell Harding Christian School and took some time to talk to lipscombsports.com
What sport(s) did you play at Lipscomb? What years? Who were your coaches?
“I played soccer from 1999-2001 for Jon Goad.”
What is your fondest athletic memory at Lipscomb?
“The friendships I gained through the team and whom I am still friends with today. I also met my wife at Lipscomb. She played on the Lady Bisons soccer team.”
Who had the biggest influence on you during your athletic career at Lipscomb? How?
“My coach and teammates— they were kind of a package deal. My coach and teammates were awesome and they were always encouraging me and pushing me to be better. The upperclassmen on the team were a
big influence when I first got there.”
What is your fondest non-athletic memory from your time at Lipscomb?
“Pledge week was pretty crazy. Hanging out with my roommates was always fun— they were really great guys. The good thing about Lipscomb is the Christian relationships it provides and the encouragement I got from my roommates.”
What is the most valuable thing you gained or learned from your time at Lipscomb?
“Hard work pays off. It was something that I always heard in both classes and sports. They always said that if you work hard you get rewards.”
Who was your favorite professor? Why?
“Cheryl Lindsay was my Spanish teacher and influenced me in what I do today. She helped me get involved with mission trips in Honduras and I am still in contact with her today.”
Where do you live now?
“I live in Nashville, Tenn.”
Who is your employer? What is your occupation? What does your position entail?
“I work at Ezell Harding Christian School where I teach Spanish. I also coach both the men’s and women’s soccer teams.”
Tell us about your family.
“My wife Carla is a nurse. She played soccer at Lipscomb for two years. We have a one-year-old son named Eli.”&
