FT. MYERS, Fla. – After reaching the semifinal round of the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament Lipscomb men’s soccer had two student-athletes named to the All-Tournament Team.
Junior Tyler Burkhardt and sophomore Omar Djabi each connected on goals in the tournament, leading to their inclusion on the squad. This is the first postseason tournament honor for both.
Burkhardt struck the game-winner in the 31st minute of play against USC Upstate to send the Bisons to the semifinal round. It was Burkhardt’s second goal on the season.
The forward received a pass from Jeremy Reid and made a spin move around the final Spartan defender to create an open lane. Launching his shot from the right corner of the 18-yard box, the ball glanced off the fingertips of the goalkeeper and into the upper-left corner of the net.
Djabi, a Second Team All-ASun member, scored the equalizer in the semifinal match at Florida Gulf Coast. Utilizing a free kick in the 77th minute, Djabi placed a line drive into the upper-right corner that helped the Bisons force overtime.
Djabi ended the season with three goals and two assists. He was also honored at the University of Central Arkansas Invite and Hyatt Place Select/Lipscomb Invitational with All-Tournament selections.
Lipscomb ended its season 7-12-1 overall and in fifth place in the A-Sun with a 3-4-1 record.
