Bisons soccer record-holder continuing with pro career

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Former Lipscomb men’s soccer player Garret Pettis has signed a contract for the Major Indoor Soccer League’s Rochester Lancers.

The Bisons all-time leading scorer joins the Lancers after having spent his first year post-Lipscomb playing professionally for the Harrisburg City Islanders in the USL Pro league.

“I’m really looking forward to the indoor season with the Lancers,” Pettis said. “It’ll be great to stay fit and competitive in the off season as well as improve some of the aspects of my technical game. I’m looking forward to working hard and helping take the Lancers to a MISL Championship.”

Pettis scored five goals and added an assist during his rookie campaign with the Islanders.

The Lancers are 1-1 in the early portion of the MISL season that lasts through the end of February.

Pettis set career records for the Bisons including 34 goals and 78 points. He also tied a single-game record scoring four goals against North Florida on Oct. 16, 2011, garnering National Player of the Week by Soccer America.
