Men's soccer releases spring schedule

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb university men's soccer coach Charles Morrow has announced a five-game spring schedule, highlighted by two home matches and the hosting of its annual Lipscomb Spring College Soccer Showcase.

The spring season opens up with a home game against Evansville on Saturday, March 28th at 3 p.m., followed by an away match at Memphis on Wednesday, April 1st at 7 p.m.

The annual Lipscomb Sprig College Soccer Showcase will be played on Saturday, April 11th. Along with Lipscomb, the showcase will feature - Kentucky, Belmont and Lindsey Wilson,

The day will kick off with two 11 a.m. matches. Lipscomb will take on Kentucky at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex while Belmont squares off against Lindsey Wilson on the Lipscomb practice field.

The showcase will close with a 4 p.m. match between Kentucky and Lindsey Wilson.

Lipscomb will wrap up its spring season on the road with matches at Belmont on Wednesday, April 15th at 7 p.m. and at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville on Sunday, April 19th at 1 p.m.

“For all the success we achieved this past fall and the way we ended our season, it was certainly a disappointment,” Morrow said. “I feel like the spring schedule that we have put together will challenge this group and ultimately help push us to a new level of success.  Three of our five spring opponents are 2014 NCAA tournament teams and we feel like our team will be more than good enough to be counted among them.

“Getting consistent results from the high level competition we are playing this spring is key in realizing that next step of success for us”

All home matches will be played at Lipscomb Soccer Complex and admittance will be free.

The Bisons posted a 12-4-1 record last season and for the first time in program history, won a share of the Atlantic Sun Conference title. As the top seed, the Purple and Gold hosted the A-Sun Tournament, but was upset by No. 4 North Florida in the semifinals.

Redshirt junior Matt Kerridge returns as the squad’s top goal scorer and points leader. Kerridge totaled seven goals, three assists and 17 total points in 2014. Rising sophomore Ivan Alvarado returns as one of the top assist men in the league after setting a Lipscomb freshman single-season record with eight helpers. Alvarado also chipped in four tallies for 16 total points.
