Men's soccer welcomes Stetson for A-Sun showdown

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb men’s soccer team is set to host Stetson in an Atlantic Sun Conference match Saturday night at 7 at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex.

The Bisons are coming off a hard-fought road match at Northern Kentucky last weekend. The two teams combined for 35 shots and 15 corner kicks, but neither could cash in and played to a 0-0 draw in two overtimes.

Lipscomb (7-2-1, 1-0-1 A-Sun) will look to get back to its winning ways Saturday against the Hatters.

Stetson possesses the top scoring offense in the conference, but the Bisons are not too far behind. Both teams average 2.1 goals per match, but Stetson has the edge in scores 23-21. Stetson has played one more game than Lipscomb.

Luke Gearin is the league’s second leading goal scorer, having netted six this season. Matt Kerridge is just behind with five.

SCOUTING Stetson:

The Hatters (4-5-2, 1-1-0 A-Sun) will enter the contest playing some of their best offense of the season. Stetson has scored 13 goals in its last four matches, including a 6-0 demolition of North Florida in its conference opener.

Stetson dropped a 1-0 decision at Florida Gulf Coast last weekend in two overtimes. The Eagles scored on a free kick from 25 yards out in the 105th minute to knock off the Hatters.

The Hatters are led offensively by JJ Bostic, who has scored seven goals this season to lead the A-Sun. Six other Stetson players have recorded multiple goals this season.

Lucas Diniz is the league’s leader in assists with six.

Paul Ladwig is the leader in the net for the Hatters. He has a 4-3-1 overall record. In eight matches Ladwig has allowed 18 goals and saved 37. He has one shutout to his credit.

The Hatters have been outshot 173-140 this season. Stetson’s opponents also hold a 77-54 advantage in corner kicks.
