MACON, Ga. – Lipscomb freshman Nate Davis picked up his first collegiate weekly award Monday when the league office announced the goalie was named Atlantic Sun Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
Davis recorded his second career clean sheet after helping the Bisons preserve a 1-0 decision Saturday night over North Florida in Jacksonville.
The St. Louis native collected three saves in the win, including a couple of point-blank stops late in the second half when the Ospreys were searching for an equalizer.
Davis ranks second in the league with a 1.28 goals against average and his .718 save percentage is third best.
Davis has an impressive 6-1-1 record for Lipscomb in net. He has logged 771:08 minutes of action with 28 saves to just 11 goals allowed.
Saturday’s match was the third shutout of the season for Lipscomb.
The Bisons (8-3-1, 2-1-1 Asun) return to action Tuesday when they finish a two-game road trip at Central Arkansas. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m.
