Men's Soccer looks to get back on track against Jacksonville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. –  The Lipscomb Men’s Soccer team will play its third Atlantic Sun Conference match in seven days on Tuesday when the Jacksonville Dolphins visit for a 7 p.m. game at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex.

Before the match begins there will be a banner-hanging ceremony to celebrate Lipscomb’s 2014 A-Sun Regular season championship. Subsequently, Lipscomb clinched the title last season with its victory against Jacksonville.

Lipscomb dropped a 3-0 decision to North Florida on Saturday in Nashville. The game was scoreless at the half before the Ospreys broke through for three second-half goals.

The Bisons held the corner kick advantage 6-2, but were outshot 11-6 in the match.

The Dolphins come to Nashville having lost their last seven matches, including a 4-0 decision to Florida Gulf Coast in their conference opener and a 3-1 loss to Upstate on Saturday.

Sophomore Ejiroghene Mrabure leads the team with three goals. He is tied with Martin Agredo for the team lead with six points. Agredo has two goals and two assists.

Allan Morgan, the only other JU player to have scored multiple goals, has two goals.

Jacksonville is 0-5-1 on the road this season. It is being outscored 25-12 in 10 games and has also been outshot 149-124.

Four goalkeepers have started a game in net, with freshman Patrick Harding getting most of the work. Harding has started five of his six games played. He has 22 saves and has allowed 12 goals in 496 minutes of action. He is 0-4-1 between the pipes.

Although Lipscomb has won the last four meetings and six of the last seven, JU leads the all-time series 9-8. The Bisons have outscored Jacksonville 13-3 in their last six wins in the series, dating back to 2009.

Lipscomb knocked off Jacksonville 2-0 last year in Florida in the regular season finale.

Lipscomb will hit the road this weekend for a non-conference tilt at Elon. The game will kick off at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10.
