LAKEPOINT, Ga. – Lipscomb’s Logan Paynter captured his first career ASUN Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week honor after posting a brilliant opening weekend on the pitch, announced by the league office on Monday.
The Bradenton, Florida native racked up three goals and his first career assist while helping lead the Bisons to a pair of 3-0 wins over Florida Atlantic and Western Illinois.
In Friday night’s season opener against the Owls, Paynter netted a goal and an assist before tacking on two more tallies Sunday against the Leathernecks.
The redshirt sophomore combined for eight shots, including five on target, while leading Lipscomb to a 2-0 start for the third time in the last four seasons.
Not only does Paynter currently lead the ASUN in goals, but he also has top honors with seven total points.
Paynter paced Lipscomb a year ago with six goals, earning him first team all-conference honors at season’s end.
The Bisons will be back in action Friday when they travel to Atlanta to take on Georgia State in a 6:30 p.m. tilt.
