Bledsoe nabs fifth career ASUN weekly honor

LakePoint, Ga. – Lipscomb senior goalkeeper Micah Bledsoe was named the ASUN Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday.

Bledsoe started in net for just one of the two games this week for the Bisons and earned the victory in the come-from-behind 2-1 win over USC Upstate on Saturday.

The native from Cincinnati corralled two saves, giving him multiple stops for the eighth time in a match this season. He now has 33 saves this season, the second most in the ASUN.

The victory gives Bledsoe six on the year, just one behind FGCU’s Sawyer Jackman for the league high.

Bledsoe lowered his goals allowed average to 1.26 and now sits fourth in the conference.

Saturday’s match marked the sixth time this season that the keeper has allowed one goal or fewer. He sits atop the league with four shutouts on the year.

The honor is the fifth of his career and the second of this season.

Lipscomb is back in action Tuesday when it hosts UAB in a 5 p.m. match at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex.

A friendly reminder to all fans planning to attend the match: Parking will be very limited and no spots will be available on campus due to the Dove Awards taking place in Allen Arena. You can park in the Stokes lot and walk to the field.

Stokes is located along Belmont Boulevard on the west side and is just north of the Glen Echo red light.
