NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Following a weekend that saw the Bisons claim a point in their fifth-straight match, the Lipscomb men’s soccer team has been ranked No. 46 in the latest edition of the Rating Percentage Index (RPI), announced on Monday.
The ranking is the highest in program history for the Purple and Gold after rising 14 spots from No. 60 last week.
Lipscomb’s ranking comes right after a 1-1 draw with No. 20 Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday night. It was the second draw of the season for Lipscomb against a ranked opponent – also drew with No. 20 Kentucky 1-1 in late September.
The Bisons currently sit at 9-5-2 overall and 3-2-1 in league play. They join North Florida (No. 33) as the only ASUN Conference teams to break into the top-50 of the RPI rankings.
In total Lipscomb has faced 10 opponents this season that are ranked in the top-100, compiling a 4-4-2 mark in those matches.
The RPI is a quantity used to rank NCAA teams based upon a team’s wins and losses as well as their strength of schedule. All 206 Division I teams are ranked using this index.
Lipscomb earned the No. 3 seed in the ASUN Championship and will head to Fort Myers, Florida on Thursday to take on No. 6 Stetson in the opening match of the tournament at 6 p.m. The winner of the quarter final will play the host in No. 2 seed FGCU on Saturday for the right to advance to the championship tilt.
