LAKEPOINT, Ga. – After recording all of the goals for the Lipscomb men’s soccer team last week, including the golden goal in overtime against Georgia St., junior Logan Paynter was named the ASUN’s Co-Player of the Week on Monday.
Paynter began his week scoring two goals on the road in a 3-2 overtime loss to former ASUN rival ETSU. Then in dramatic fashion on Saturday night, Paynter netted the game-winner seven minutes into overtime to secure a 1-0 victory.
For the week, Paynter took eight shots converting on three of them. His four total goals in 2017, as well as his nine points, rank second in the ASUN.
The four goals this season give the junior from Bradenton, Fla. 21 goals for his Lipscomb career. That trails program record holder Garrett Pettis’s 33 goals set from 2008-2011.
It’s the first Player of the Week award for Paynter this season and second of his career. Paynter splits the award with NJIT’s Mamadou Guirassy who also scored three goals this week.
The Bisons next game will be Friday night in California against San Diego. Kick off will be at 5 p.m.
