LAKEPOINT, Ga. – Lipscomb men’s soccer’s Logan Paynter and Daniel Mühlbauer have been named to the 11-member ASUN All-Academic Team for their efforts on the pitch and in the classroom.
For Paynter, this honor is his second consecutive All-Academic nod and came with the added significance of being a unanimous selection to the team. With 8 goals and 3 assists on the season, the redshirt junior has continued his run as one of the ASUN’s best players. He currently sits second in both goals and points this season and is third in program history in those two categories for his Bisons career.
Mühlbauer is a first-time recipient of the honor. The 6’6” defender from Germany has been a force on the backline for the Bisons this season playing in 14 games with 11 starts. While the center back has yet to contribute to Lipscomb’s scoresheet this season, he has made plenty of impact on opponents scorelines, playing a part in three shutouts this season.
“Proud of Logan and Daniel and their accomplishments,” head coach Charles Morrow said. “The honor is well deserved. If you look at our entire team, we have the most on-field talent we have ever had, but we also have the strongest results in the classroom as well. It is an indication of Logan and Daniel’s mindset to strive for excellence in everything they do.”
To qualify for the All-Academic Team, student-athletes must have participated in 50% of the team’s games, been at the ASUN institution for two previous semesters and have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher. Institutional SID’s voted for the team, but were unable to vote for their own players.
The Bisons will enter postseason play on Friday in Fort Myers, Fla., with a First Round ASUN Tournament game against NJIT. Kickoff will be at 4 p.m. CT.
