ATLANTA – With a pair of three-point outings last week on the road, Lipscomb’s Logan Paynter has been named the ASUN Men’s Soccer Co-Player of the Week.
It is his first weekly honor of the year and the fourth of his career.
The senior started the week off well in a 3-2 win over No. 10 Louisville on Tuesday. He recorded an assist on the team’s first goal in the 43rd minute before adding a score himself in the 59th.
Paynter capped off the week with a similar performance against NJIT Saturday in a 2-1 victory. The Bradenton, Florida native rocketed in a goal in the 13th minute from 18 yards out to put Lipscomb on top. After the Highlanders equalized, he then assisted on Daniel Zapata’s game-winner in the 72nd tick on a nice combo in the box.
On the year, Paynter leads the team with six goals to go along with three assists. He has totaled a team-high 15 points after scoring in three straight matches.
He shares the weekly honor with Liberty's Kevin Mendoza.
The Bisons have won five of their last six games, and will host Memphis Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the final nonconference tilt of the year.
