ATLANTA - Lipscomb's Chris Zappia corralled the final ASUN Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week award for the 2018 season, announced Monday by the league office.
Zappia collects his second-straight Defensive Player of the Week honor and third of the year after stopping three shots in Lipscomb's 2-1 victory against Stetson, which locked up the No. 1 seed for the Bisons in the ASUN Championship and a share of their first Regular Season title since 2014.
The senior keeper finishes the season with a 1.45 GAA, which ranks second in the conference while also holding a .724 save percentage.
It is his fourth career weekly honor, and he is the only player to win the honor at least three times this season.
The Bisons will be back in action Sunday at 2 p.m. when they take on the winner of #4 Jacksonville and #5 Liberty in the ASUN semifinal at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex.
