NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The two-time defending ASUN Conference champion Lipscomb men’s soccer team and head coach Charles Morrow announced a five-game 2019 spring schedule Tuesday.
The Bisons will open the spring season February 27 at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex when they take on the hometown team from the United Soccer League, Nashville SC. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m.
It will be the second year in a row the two squads have met during the spring slate.
Lipscomb will stay in the Music City for a March 6 matchup with Evansville at 7:30 p.m.
The Bisons and Purple Aces last met during the 2018 season when Evansville grabbed a 1-0 victory.
From there, the Bisons will hit the road for three games. They will first take on Atlantic Coast Conference power Louisville on March 30 for a 5 p.m. contest.
In the fall, Lipscomb traveled to Louisville and downed the No. 10 ranked Cardinals 3-2 behind goals from John Wynia, Logan Paynter and Louis Robinson.
Next up for the Bisons is a 4-hour trip north to Bloomington, Indiana on April 7 to take on the University of Indiana in a 1 p.m. kickoff.
The Hoosiers were one of the last four teams standing in the NCAA Tournament in the fall after earning the overall No. 2 seed. They earned shutout victories over UCONN, Air Force and Notre Dame before falling 2-0 to No. 11 Maryland in the semifinals.
It will be the first time in history the two clubs have met on the pitch.
The last road game of the spring will see Lipscomb taking on NAIA member Lindsey Wilson for a 7 p.m. start time.
To close the spring the Bisons will bring back a number of former players to put on an alumni game on April 13.
