Five men's soccer players honored at ASUN awards banquet

ATLANTA - Five Lipscomb men’s soccer players were honored on Thursday night at the ASUN awards banquet as members of the ASUN All-Conference Team, All-Freshman Team, and All-Academic Team.

Senior Ben Locke and sophomore Noah Gulden were named First-Team All-Conference, Austin Eager was voted Second-Team All-Conference, Ruben Pedersen was selected to the All-Freshman Team, and Locke, Gulden, Eager, and senior Daniel Muhlbauer earned All-Academic selections.

Ben Locke | First-Team All-Conference | All-Academic

Locke has been the steadying presence in the midfield for the Bisons this season. Across 13 games, the Cleveland, Ohio native has notched two goals for four total points, including the game-winning penalty strike against North Florida that clinched Lipscomb’s spot in the ASUN Tournament. With over 1,000 minutes played on the season, Locke has been integral to both the Bisons offensive attack and the defense. In the classroom, Locke has a perfect 4.0 GPA in the Masters of Business Administration graduate program.

Noah Gulden | First-Team All-Conference | All-Academic

For the second-consecutive season, Gulden has been voted a member of the All-Conference First Team. A native of Hattingen, Germany, he was the only Bison to play in and start all 15 regular season contests, logging a team-high 1389 minutes played. Gulden’s top-notch defense was key to the Lipscomb backline, but he was also a threatening presence for the offensive attack, notching two goals, three assists (the second-best mark on the team), and seven total points. Off the field, Gulden notched a perfect 4.0 GPA as a Management major with a concentration in Entrepreneurship.

Austin Eager | Second-Team All-Conference | All-Academic

Eager earned his second All-Conference selection, following his First-Team spot last season, with a typically strong performance for Lipscomb. The anchor of the Bisons defense once again, the Carrollton, Texas native played over 1100 minutes across 13 games. Eager also bolstered the Bisons offense, dishing out an assist and taking seven shots while attacking up the flank. In the classroom, Eager earned a 3.96 GPA as a Mechanical Engineering major with a minor in Applied Math.

Ruben Pedersen | Unanimous All-Freshman

Pedersen immediately stepped in as a key member of the Bisons attack in the midfield, leading the team with four goals and tying for the team lead with eight total points. The Lyngby, Denmark native also leads Lipscomb with 29 shots and 14 shots on goal. In the ASUN, he is fifth in goals, 10th in points, seventh in shots on goal, and eighth in shots.

Daniel Muhlbauer | All-Academic

The only three-time All-Academic selection in the conference this season, and only the third in program history after Logan Paynter and Robbie Johnson, Muhlbauer boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA as an International Business major. Muhlbauer is an integral part of the Bisons backline, starting 13 games, logging over 1000 minutes played, and often functioning as the last line of defense before the goalkeeper. On offense, the Vaihingen an der Enz, Germany native added one assist.
