Lipscomb Men's Soccer signs eight in 2016 recruiting class

Lipscomb head coach Charles Morrow announced the addition of eight newcomers to the men’s soccer program on Thursday. Of the eight members who will be join the Bison starting in the fall of 2016, four hail from the state of Texas, while the others span from Georgia to Colorado.

MACON, Ga. - The conference portion of the men's soccer season concludes on Sunday with a quartet of games highlighted by a rematch from the semifinals of the 2007 Atlantic Sun Championship between Jacksonville and Lipscomb. Men's soccer falls to Florida Gulf Coast 2-1

The Lipscomb Bisons finished their regular season home schedule with a disappointing loss to Florida Gulf Coast 2-1. The Bisons only goal was made by freshman midfielder Andre Santos and assisted by sophomore forward Miguel DaSilva.

Bad memories of their game at Stetson last season gave the Bisons all the motivation they needed Friday night in a 2-0 Atlantic Sun win over Stetson at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex.

The Bisons soccer team is breaking records in several areas, but the main goal is a return to the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament and the chance to play in the NCAA Tournament.


Lind's two goals lift Bisons over Mercer 4-3

Freshman Josh Lind scored two goals for the Bisons in the final 18 minutes of Saturday's conference match at Mercer to give the Bisons a 4-3 victory. Lipscomb returns home Friday to face Stetson at 7:30 p.m.


Bisons fall 4-3 to top-ranked Campbell

Lipscomb freshman forward Garret Pettis scored two goals, but it wasn't enough as the Bisons lost to Campbell 4-3 Thursday night in Buies Creek, N.C. Also scoring for the Bisons was freshman Tony Garibaldi.


Pettis scores A-Sun Player of Week award

MACON, Ga. - Lipscomb's Garret Pettis speared the offense with three goals to win his first Player of the Week award. On the defensive side, Aaron Johnson allowed only one goal to lead the Camels to a 4-0 mark in conference play to win his second Defensive Player of the Week award, the conference office announced on Monday.


Men's Soccer receives NCAA Sportsmanship award

Playing with class and sportsmanship is the most important aspect of college sports. That statement is especially true for the Lipscomb men's soccer program. This past Sunday the team was honored by the NCAA with a “special recognition” of sportsmanship.


Pettis scores twice as Bisons defeat USC Upstate 4-1

The Bisons Soccer Team beat visiting conference foe USC-Upstate 4-0 Sunday afternoon. Lipscomb put the game out of reach early for the Spartans, scoring three unanswered goals in the first half alone.


Bisons beat ETSU 2-1 on DaSilva's penalty kick

The Lipscomb Bisons ran their unbeaten streak to four with a 2-1 win Friday night over ETSU in an Atlantic Sun Conference match at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex. In their three previous matches the Bisons had beaten Wofford 1-0 and tied Belmont 1-1 and Evansville 0-0. The Bisons entered the game with a 117 RPI rating, their highest ever, the highest of any team in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Garret Pettis, above, scored the first goal and Miguel DaSilva's game-winner was the result of a penalty kick.


Bisons battle to 0-0 tie with Evansville

The Lipscomb Bisons and the Evansville Aces battled through regulation and two overtime periods for a 0-0 tie. It was the second tie in a row for the Bisons who also tied Belmont 1-1 Friday night. Lipscomb goalkeeper Brent McGee did not face a shot on goal.


Bisons open conference action in 1-1 tie with Belmont

With a different location and a different year, the outcome still remained the same. The Lipscomb Men's Soccer team tied with the Belmont Bruins in the Battle of the Boulevard for the second year in a row. The Bisons play at Evansville on Sunday October 5 at 1 p.m.


Men's Soccer to open conference play against Belmont

Soccer's version of the “Battle of the Boulevard” is going to be taking place in a more distant location. Due to preparations for the Presidential Debate at Belmont, the Bruins home game with the Lipscomb Bisons Friday night, the second annual "Battle of the Boulevard' Cup, will be played at Drakes Creek Park in Hendersonville, about a 45-minute drive from campus. Game time is at 7 for the Atlantic Sun opener for both teams.


Chairez's goal lifts Bisons over Wofford 1-0

Angel Chairez scored the lone goal Sunday afternoon in the Bisons 1-0 victory over Wofford. The Bisons have won three of their last four games going into their conference opener against Belmont at Drakes Creek Park in Hendersonville, Tenn., on Friday at 7 p.m.


Men's soccer drops 2-1 decision to Furman

The Lipscomb Bisons soccer team ended a two-game win streak Friday night with a 2-1 loss to Furman at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex. The game was the Atlantic Sun Game of the Week. The Bisons, 3-5, will host Wofford Sunday afternoon at 2:30. Furman raised its record to 4-4-1 with the win.


Bisons host Paladins in A-Sun Game of the Week

MACON, Ga. - One week after hosting its first Division I tournament, Lipscomb's men's soccer team hosts its second tournament, the A-Sun/SoCon Shootout. DaSilva Golden in Winning Player of the Week

Lipscomb's Miguel DaSilva carried the Bisons to their first tournament title in the NCAA era in winning the Atlantic Sun's Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. DaSilva, a sophomore, scored in both games of the Hyatt Place Select-Brentwood Invitational, the first tournament ever hosted by the Bisons.

If you are going to host your first tournament then you might as well win it. Such was the situation for the Lipscomb Bisons who beat UNC-Asheville 3-1 to win the Hyatt Place Select-Brentwood Invitational at the Lipscomb soccer complex. The Bisons also beat Presbyterian 2-0 Friday night.


Bisons to face UNC Asheville in A-Sun Game of the Week

After defeating Presbyterian 2-0 Friday night, the Bisons will conclude the Hyatt Place Select-Brentwood Invitational against UNC Asheville Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the Atlantic Sun Game of the Week. The game can be seen on ASun.TV.



Men's soccer beats Presbyterian 2-0 in Hyatt Place Select-Brentwood Invitational

The Lipscomb Bisons Soccer team earned their second shutout of the season in the first round of the Hyatt Place Select-Brentwood Invitational on the campus of Lipscomb University. They beat Presbyterian College 2-0 Friday in a hard-fought match that contained nine yellow cards and one red card.


Hyatt Place Select-Brentwood Invitational set to kick off

Lipscomb's Bisons will play host to their first ever soccer tournament this Friday and Sunday. The Hyatt Place Select-Brentwood Invitational will also feature Belmont University, UNC-Asheville and Presbyterian College. Belmont will play UNC-Asheville Friday at 5 followed by Lipscomb and Presbyterian at 7:30.


Bisons fall to Navy 3-2 in 109th minute

All the Lipscomb Bisons needed was to hold on for another 57 seconds to tie the United States Naval Academy. But Sunday morning at UMBC Stadium in Baltimore, Md., the Bisons allowed the winning goal at the 109:03 for a 3-2 Navy win in the second round of the Adidas Kick-Off Classic. The tournament was hosted by the University of Maryland-Baltimore County.


Maryland-Baltimore slips past Bisons 1-0

The Lipscomb Bisons and Maryland-Baltimore County (UMBC) finished tied in several categories except the most important one. Both teams made eight shots with both teams taking three in the first half and five in the second. Both teams attempted three shots on goal. But one of those three shots for UMBC found its way past freshman Lipscomb goalkeeper Patrick Walsh Friday night for a 1-0 win in the first round of the Adidas Kick-Off Classic in Baltimore, Md.


Soccer loses 4-1 to Winthrop in Soccer for a Cure Classic

The Lipscomb Bisons lost 4-1 Sunday morning to Winthrop in the second round of the Soccer For A Cure Classic at Greene-Harbison Stadium on the campus of Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, N.C. The Bisons jumped out to a 1-0 lead at 9:59 of the first half when sophomore forward Miguel DaSilva connected on a penalty kick. It was his third goal of the tournament and his second successful penalty kick of the season.


Men's Soccer defeats Gardner-Webb 4-0 in season opener

The Lipscomb Bisons soccer team opened the regular season in a strong note with a 4-0 win over host Gardner-Webb in the Soccer For A Cure Classic in Boiling Springs, N.C. Friday night. Coach Charles Morrow not only opened his fourth season at Lipscomb with a shutout, but he was also able to play everyone who made the trip.


Bisons lose 1-0 to Christian Brothers in soccer exhibition

Lipscomb Bisons soccer coach Charles Morrow got a chance to look at several of his new players in action on a muggy Friday night in an exhibition game with Christian Brothers at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex. Morrow played 26 players in the 1-0 loss to Christian Brothers.

DaSilva picked to Preseason All-Conference Team

Lipscomb sophomore forward Miguel DaSilva was named to the Atlantic Sun Preseason All-Conference Team, the conference announced Wednesday. DaSilva set school records for goals (10) and points (20) in a season last year as a redshirt freshman earning a spot on the All-Freshman team. The Bisons face Christian Brothers at home in an exhibition on August 22 at 6:00 p.m.


Men's Soccer Team Donates Uniforms to Haiti Orphanage

The Cap Haitian orphanage soccer team looks a lot like the Lipscomb Bisons this summer. Dr. Lynn Griffith, long-time professor and director of tennis for Lipscomb, has been involved for many years in missionary work in Haiti. This year he asked Bisons soccer coach Charles Morrow if he had any old uniforms he no longer needed. Morrow responded by sending a home and away package of uniforms.


Men's Soccer team nominated for 2008 NCAA Sportsmanship Award

The Lipscomb University men's soccer team has been nominated for the 2008 NCAA Sportsmanship Award by the Atlantic Sun Conference at the request of Bradley University, a private college located in Peoria, Ill. On August 12, 2007, tragedy struck the Bradley community with the death of men's soccer player Danny Dahlquist, who died in a fire at his residence.


Tennessee Futsal League Presents: 2008 Friendship Cup

The Tennessee Futsal League will be holding a three-day tournament Aug. 1 through Aug. 3 at Allen Arena at Lipscomb University. The Friendship Cup Tournament at Lipscomb is designed to promote and benefit scholarship funds for local club soccer teams and introduce Futsal to Nashville.
