Caulfield will join the Bisons starting at the end of May as a graduate assistant coach. A varsity goalkeeper at Virginia Tech from 2006-2009, Caulfield will work primarily with the goalkeepers.

The Bisons entered the game with a 117 RPI rating, their highest ever, the highest of any team in the Atlantic Sun Conference. The Lipscomb Bisons lost 4-1 Sunday morning to Winthrop in the second round of the Soccer For A Cure Classic at Greene-Harbison Stadium on the campus of Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, N.C. The Bisons jumped out to a 1-0 lead at 9:59 of the first half when sophomore forward Miguel DaSilva connected on a penalty kick. It was his third goal of the tournament and his second successful penalty kick of the season.

DaSilva set school records for goals (10) and points (20) in a season last year as a redshirt freshman earning a spot on the All-Freshman team. The Cap Haitian orphanage soccer team looks a lot like the Lipscomb Bisons this summer. Dr. Lynn Griffith, long-time professor and director of tennis for Lipscomb, has been involved for many years in missionary work in Haiti. This year he asked Bisons soccer coach Charles Morrow if he had any old uniforms he no longer needed. Morrow responded by sending a home and away package of uniforms.

The Lipscomb University men's soccer team has been nominated for the 2008 NCAA Sportsmanship Award by the Atlantic Sun Conference at the request of Bradley University, a private college located in Peoria, Ill. On August 12, 2007, tragedy struck the Bradley community with the death of men's soccer player Danny Dahlquist, who died in a fire at his residence.
