Men’s tennis kicked off their fall season this weekend at the Steve Baras Fall Classic hosted by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
After a slow start on day one, the Bisons gained a win in doubles from James Murrell and Chad Pierron over Alex Butnarcuic and Chase Price of UTC 8-5. Murrell and Pierron advanced to the quarterfinals.
Joe McArdle and Andy Mizell lost a close match to Belmont’s Rafael Motos and Zach Zola falling 9-8.
In day two James Murrell defeated UNCG’s Jacob Wright in the semifinals main draw 6-3, 2-6, and 6-4.
Chad Pierron defeated Alabama-Birmingham’s John Holliman 7-6 (4), 6-2 in the consolation quarterfinals.
The Bisons will finish up the action on Sunday in Chattanooga.
