NASHVILLE, Tenn. –The Lipscomb men’s tennis team is gearing up to host the North Alabama on Sunday at the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center at 2 p.m.
While the Bison have boasted strong singles play, head coach Andrew Harris said doubles competition will be a point of emphasis heading into the match.
“The guys are looking forward to getting back on Sunday,” Harris said. “Our focus needs to be playing a complete match from doubles to singles. We have had success throughout the early part of the spring in doubles and singles, but we need to do it on the same day.”
With North Alabama being the Bison’s final match before conference play, Harris said he hopes to establish a balance between singles and doubles competition across the roster.
“I will be looking forward to seeing consistency,” Harris said. “With conference beginning in two weeks, having everyone competing well in the same match will be critical to our success. We must have that on Sunday and bring that level of intensity into our league matches.”
The Bison’s last meeting with the Lions came last season when the Bison posted a 7-0 sweep on February 11.
Heading into Sunday’s matchup, the Bison hold a 4-5 record, compared the Lions’ 1-5 record.
North Alabama will face both Western Kentucky and West Florida before traveling to Nashville, while the Bison will have a week of practice.
The Bison enter the match coming off a comeback win over the Detroit-Mercy on March 3. The Bison fell behind early in the match after losing the doubles point, but came back in singles to pull out the 4-3 win.
