Lipscomb closes out successful weekend at Steve Baras Classic
The Bisons and Lady Bisons finished their first fall tournament Sunday with two singles and a doubles team participating in the championship round of the Steve Baras Classic Sunday at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

James Murrell lost a lengthy match in the main draw B Flight. After two and a half hours as he fell 6-3, 5-7, 2-6 in the third set to UNC-Greensboro's John Williams.

In other matches played Sunday, senior captain Andy Mizell won the C Flight Consolation beating Lee University 6-0, 6-2.

Mizell and sophomore Joe McArdle advanced to the finals of the C Flight doubles championship. The duo came up short, losing 8-3 to Austin Peay.

On the women’s side Elizabeth Keevil lost in the finals to Emily Hangstefer of UTC 6-3, 6-3. Hangstefer is the younger sister of Lipscomb tennis player Daniel Hangstefer.

“Elizabeth had a great college debut, but the great thing is that I know she can play even better than how she played this weekend,” said women’s associate head coach Kristin Lusk. “Elizabeth has so much potential and it is going to be fun to see her develop as a player.”
