BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - A Friday road trip to UAB proved to be unsuccessful for the men’s tennis team, who lost the match 7-0.
Lipscomb coach Andrew Harris said that he believed the doubles matches came down to a lack of fundamentals and good play from UAB.
“Certainly we were looking to control the doubles, and UAB did a good job of battling the elements,” Harris said. “I wish we could have been more assertive on the volleys and utilizing our footwork more.”
In the singles matches, Harris said he felt that the serves were the team’s weak point.
“The biggest take away from the singles is the inability to consistently hold serve,” Harris said. “Obviously, that's going to be more difficult again in these conditions, but nonetheless, we must fight through those.”
With conference play looming over the horizon, Harris hopes the team (3-5) will be prepared for their final non-conference match at Austin Peay on Tuesday.
“We have one more match against Austin Peay before conference, and we need to look at playing a complete match from start to finish,” Harris said.
