NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Coming off of their opening match of the season against a tough Vanderbilt team, the Lipscomb men’s tennis team faces Murray State on Friday at Richland Country Club.
The match begins at 7 p.m.
The Racers struggled last season, but head coach Mario Hernandez doesn’t want his players focusing on who’s on the other side of the net
“It’s the same thing as with Vanderbilt,” Hernandez said. “We want our guys to focus on our tennis and execute our tennis. There’s not a lot of difference.
After the loss to Vanderbilt last week, Hernandez likes what he’s seen from his team during the week of practice.
“I’m pleased with the professionalism and focus they’ve displayed,” Hernandez said. “They have been much sharper.”
In that preparation, the Bisons have been using the same message as Hernandez: own their game.
Hernandez knows each of his players has their own style of game and he wants them to continue to hone that game and perfect it as practice goes on.
Early in the season, Hernandez likes the depth his team has and the preparation he’s seen from each of them.
“They have been preparing really well,” Hernandez said. “Our guys know they have to bring it everyday to get into the lineup. But we know we can plug anyone in and give ourselves a chance to win.”
