Men's tennis to open home schedule with Gardner-Webb

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- The Lipscomb men’s tennis team is in search of its first victory of the season as Gardner-Webb comes to town this weekend.

The Bisons and the Runnin' Bulldogs are set to do battle at Richland Country Club on Saturday at 5 p.m. The two teams were slated to play in North Carolina last March, but the match was cancelled.

Lipscomb lost its season-opening match to Vanderbilt last Sunday, while Gardner-Webb (1-2) picked up its first win of the season by edging Davidson, 4-3, on Thursday.

Against the Commodores, Lipscomb managed to win the doubles point, but the Bisons went winless in singles action.

Alejandro Manzanares and Victor Chaw downed Vanderbilt’s Cameron Klinger and Billy Rowe by a score of 6-3, before Jorge Ortegon and Daniel Cardenas defeated Vanderbilt’s Lachlan McPhee and Baker Newman by the same score.

Lipscomb last played Gardner-Webb on March 27, 2008, when the Runnin’ Bulldogs were a member of the ASUN Conference. Gardner-Webb has won all three meetings between the two schools.

Check on Saturday night for a full recap of the match. Updates will also be posted to the team’s Twitter page (@LipscombMTEN).
