LAKEPOINT, Ga. – Lipscomb’s Victor Chaw earned his third career ASUN Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week honor after going 4-0 for the Bisons in their final matches of the regular season, announced by the league office Wednesday.
All three awards have come in the last five weeks.
The sophomore grabbed helped Lipscomb clinch the No. 6 seed in this week's ASUN Championship with unblemished marks against USC Upstate and NJIT.
Chaw earned a 6-2, 6-4 victory over the Spartans' Francisco Neto at No. 2 in singles before taking down the Highlanders' Jan Cimrman 6-3, 6-3 in the regular season finale.
The Lima, Peru native also snatched a pair of victories with teammate Alejandro Manzanares at No. 1 doubles, defeating Upstate 6-3 and NJIT 6-2. The duo led the league with a 5-0 mark in doubles in ASUN action and was recently named the No. 90 pairing in the nation in the ITA National Doubles rankings.
Chaw improved to 14-4 on the year in singles play and 12-3 in doubles.
Lipscomb and Chaw is back in action on Fridayfor the first round of the ASUN Championship. The Bisons will take on Kennesaw State at 8 a.m. in Jacksonville, Florida.
