NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After a strong opening weekend at the Southern Intercollegiate at Georgia to kick off the season, the Lipscomb men’s tennis team is back in town this weekend with the Commodore Scramble hosted by Vanderbilt.
The Scramble will run from Friday through Sunday, with the action set to begin at 9 a.m. each day.
Although the next three matches for the Bisons will take place in Tennessee, the Scramble will be the only chance for Lipscomb fans to catch the team in action in Nashville for the fall slate.
Lipscomb is only sending four players to the courts over the weekend: juniors Jorge Ortegon and Pablo Caffarena and sophomores Pedro Uribe and Francesco Tacconi.
The Bisons will be joined by fellow local schools Belmont and Tennessee Tech at the Scramble, as well as Louisville, Furman, and host Vanderbilt.
The format will be shotgun style with matches going on all 15 courts at once.
Last weekend at the Southern Intercollegiate, the Bisons finished 12-6 in doubles play and 9-13 in singles play. Caffarena and fellow junior Victor Chaw led the way, reaching the quarterfinals of the doubles bracket.
Lipscomb returns to action September 28 when it travels to Murfreesboro for the Short/LaLance Shootout hosted by Middle Tennessee.
