Louisville Invitational offers tough test for Men's Tennis

NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb men’s tennis team continues its fall tournament season this weekend in the Bluegrass State at the Louisville Invitational.

The three-event gets under way at 9 a.m. Friday on the campus of the University of Louisville. The invitational will feature A, B, C and D flights of singles and doubles competition at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center, which is home to six indoor courts and eight outdoor.

Along with the host Cardinals, the Bisons will join the field of Austin Peay, Ball State, Bellarmine, Belmont, Campbellsville, Chattanooga, Illinois State, Middle Tennessee, Tennessee Tech and Xavier.  

Last weekend, Victor Chaw, Jorge Ortegon, Pablo Caffarena, and Pedro Uribe competed in the annual ITA Ohio Valley Regional. Chaw and Caffarena advanced to the round of 16 in the 64-team main doubles draw, while Chaw and Ortegon were the only Bisons to earn first-round victories in singles action.

Head coach Geoff Hernandez will take a five-man roster to Louisville, where Chaw and Oretegon will be joined by Jake Penny, Francesco Tacconi and David Skrabut in singles play. In doubles, he will pair Ortegon and Tacconi in one draw while Penny and Skrabut will make up the final pairing in another.


The Bisons conclude fall action the first weekend in November (2-4) when they travel to Birmingham to take part in the CCB Collegiate Invitational hosted by the University of Alabama.
