NASHVILLE - The Lipscomb men's tennis team fell at home Friday to Georgia Southern 5-2 in the team's last match before spring break.
"Today was a tough match against a tough team," head coach Geoff Hernandez said. "Georgia Southern is a solid team. We just need to make some little adjustments in singles. We are evaluating it and writing down our goals for spring break.
The Bisons (5-8) were unable to grab the doubles point, despite a 6-3 victory from their top duo Victor Chaw and Pablo Caffarena.
"We didn't have three lines really competing today and that can't happen at this level," Hernandez said. "We have to make sure we have each team performing at their highest level mentally."
In singles play, the Bisons picked up a pair of wins on courts two and three.
Caffarena knocked off Georgia Southern's Stefano Di Aloy (6-3, 2-6, 7-5) at No. 2 for his team-leading seventh singles victory of the season. At No. 3 it was Jorge Ortegon who earned a victory after GSU defaulted with injury. Ortegon was leading the match 6-0, 4-6, 3-2.
Lipscomb is back in action next weekend when the Bisons visit North Alabama on Saturday, March 23 at 10 a.m. It will be the ASUN opener for the squad.
