Men's Tennis takes down NJIT 4-0

NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb men’s tennis team earned its second ASUN Conference victory of the season on Thursday by downing NJIT 4-0.

The win improved the Bisons to 7-10 overall and 2-2 in league play.

Lipscomb took an early lead in the match with wins at one and three doubles. The team of Michael Tougher and Pedro Uribe grabbed a 6-4 win at three to secure the team point after Victor Chaw and Pablo Caffarena got the first win of the afternoon, 6-2.

The doubles win helped the Bisons carry the momentum and jump out to a quick start in singles play.

Caffarena made quick work of NIT’s Abdullah Fouad 6-2, 6-0 on court two before the bottom of the lineup sealed the victory.

Like Caffarena, David Skrabut also ran past the Highlanders 6-2, 6-0 on court six. It was his second straight win in singles.

Lipscomb clinched the win on court five as Jake Penny also earned a sweep, 6-1, 6-4, over Juan Bejarano.

The Bisons were leading in each of the other three singles matches at the time it was called.

Lipscomb will close out its home slate and say goodbye to senior George Wong when the Bisons host FGCU at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center.
