Chaw & Caffarena Set For Nationals

NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb men's tennis team wraps up its fall season this week as Victor Chaw and Pablo Caffarena head to Newport Beach, California to compete in the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships.

Two weeks removed from Chaw and Caffarena’s doubles runner-up finish at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional, the duo looks to continue their success on the highest stage.

They have combined to post a 5-1 record this fall, including a Top-10 victory. The Bison duo will face the No. 8 pairing of John McNally and Robert Cash out of Ohio State in the first round of the doubles draw on Wednesday at 6 p.m. CT. Fans can keep up with the action via live stats HERE.

The Oracle ITA National Fall Championships features 64 of the nation's top collegiate singles players and 32 doubles teams on the men’s side. In its third year, having replaced the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, it is the lone event on the collegiate tennis calendar to feature competitors from all five divisions playing in the same tournament.

The doubles draw consists of four ITA All-American Semifinalists, two ITA All-American Consolation Finalists, 12 ITA Regional Champions, one ITA Cup Champion, one Oracle wild card, two ITA Wild Cards, and ten at-large selections.

The Lipscomb men's tennis team has never had a participant in the ITA National Fall Championships.

The event will run from Wednesday, November 6 to Sunday, November 10. The men's kick off at the Newport Beach Country Club with singles starting at 8:00 a.m., with doubles following.

Live streaming of featured men’s and women’s matches will be available along with live scoring for all matches.

Sunday’s finals at the Newport Beach Tennis Club will air live on ESPN3 with Bryan Fenley, Marc Lucero and Jasmine Minor describing the action. Both finals will re-air on ESPNU with dates and times to be announced.

The men's competition will take place at The Tennis Club at Newport Beach Wednesday through Friday before all play moves to Newport Beach Tennis Club on Saturday.
