They were short in numbers, but not in performances as the Lipscomb men's track team scored well in a number of events at the Atlantic Sun Championship at the National Training Center in Clermont, Fla.

"It was the first year for the guys to ever compete at the conference meet," said first-year Lipscomb coach Robichaud. "So many things came together. The future does indeed look bright for the men's team."

Zac Yanis finished third in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.61. In the same event Clint Carter ran a personal best time of 1:58.11. Chris Lucas completed the run for Lipscomb with a time of 2:32.18. Dane Simmons from North Florida won the race with a time of 1:56.38.

"To have Zac within milliseconds away from winning the 800 meters was very exciting," said Robichaud.

In the 1500-meter run Weldon Ehlert ran a personal best time of 4:02.81. Caleb key finished 13th at 4:30.56.

"Weldon put together a great race," said Robichaud. "He has been riddled with injuries throughout his college career, but he has been healthy this year."

In the 5,000-meter run Jordan Wilson was eighth with a time of 16:12.61. Tim Cotton ran the race in a time of 18:09.00 followed by Alex Mincey with a time of 19:25.94.

Wilson was tied for the lead in the 10,000-meter run for approximately 2 ½ miles. He finished 10th with a time of 33;39.01.

"It was thrilling to watch Jordan," said Robichaud.

In the field events Joe Lohr posted a personal best in the long jump with a distance of 5.89 meters, good enough for seventh place.

In the triple long jump Lohr leaped 10.26 meters.

In the shot put Tim Edwards threw for 9.85 meters.

In the discus Chase Slusher had a final throw of 31.38 meters.

Keith Brown threw the javelin 37.67 meters.

"Our athletes were such a positive support group for each other," said Robichaud. "We had a lot of team spirit. They have a genuine love for each other. It was a very family-like atmosphere on the trip."
